So yesterday morning I tuned in to EVE-Radio (live radio stream) to listen to some music and maybe hear some updates on the Alliance Tournament. I was not prepared for what I heard instead…
I logged in just as FunkyBacon had started talking about what has to be the biggest news in EVE-Online history. It’s even bigger news than the Peak Concurrent User record of over 47,000 users (achieved Jan 12, 2009) and bigger than the currently ongoing Alliance Tournament.
This morning I was sitting around in EVE-Radio’s IRC channel waiting for the daily server reboot to finish (yes, the server OS is windows - blech). People were trying to figure out when the servers were coming back up as well as talking about the music.
Somebody (I think it was Grek?) mentioned a useful utility for checking server status. I ended up checking out the website & downloading Eve Downtime.
It appears to be a very useful little program.
& yes, that is the volume control on the right side… it’s tricksy it is.
Somebody in chat today asked why this picture should be “Picture of the Year”. After much discussion we discovered his reason was that the soldier in the picture was carrying 2 guns - his & his buddy’s.
I’m not sure of the exact background story on this picture, but considering many of the other stories I wouldn’t doubt this was a plausible story.
If anybody knows the real story being told by the picture (not what the newspaper said), please let me know.
Some people apparently have way to much time on their hands… Of course if it wasn’t for them we wouldn’t have something like this available -

It’s funny when you come across songs where the lyrics are sometimes really hard to understand or people just add their own… I hadn’t heard of Nightwish until after I’d been listening to EVE-Radio for a while. From what I’ve seen I’m guessing they’re a european band that likes the gothic look. Other than that I don’t know except that I like some of the tunes.
Anywho, somebody put together a video displaying what they thought they heard… the lyrics are somewhat hard to understand.
